Top 5 Tips
When I came to Asia nearly 20 years ago, I had nothing.
No money.
No friends.
No family.
No language skills.
No cultural understanding.
Nada!
On paper I was destined to fail. (Not that I'm thriving now.)
So how did I defy the odds?
I caught up with my ex-boss from nearly 20 years ago.
She told me: "You never failed me. I can't say the same for others."
And spoiler alert, it wasn't because of my brains or talent!
From the day I entered our company, I knew I was the least talented and intelligent person.
She explained how I survived: "You always showed up before anyone else every morning. Cheerfully greeted me and went about your work."
While everyone would show up around 10am, you already started working at 8am.
I explained to her that I clearly understood myself and my limitations.
I wasn't going to be able to outsmart or outwit anyone.
But no one...I mean no one...would outwork me.
It's as simple as that.
No shortcuts. No hacks.
Just pure 100% old-fashioned sweat.
I write this because some people are gifted with certain things.
My kids, for example, were blessed with brains and striking looks (not from me, of course.)
But for those who weren't, don't be discouraged.
You can still achieve amazing things - far beyond your wildest imagination.
All you have to do is be able to:
- Put in more effort than the person next to you
- Keep going when the person next to you stops
- Get 1% better everyday
You got this!
Stay focused, stay strong young queens and kings!

Good perspective, grit and resolve truly can change one's situation. I may not be the most skilled writer on Substack or the best looking but I can win the game here by grit and posting only stuff I can write.
Same goes for marketing books, pour in the hours and the hard work to make it.
